Hitting the pause button

Pause.

Where have you been, I hear you ask? Very thoughtful of you, thanks for asking, I’ve been probably in the same places as you – at a wedding, in my car in a motorway traffic jam, or in front of my screen editing.

But why no newsletters for the last few weeks? Yes I know you hadn’t actually noticed but a few people had asked. Ok, one person asked. That person was me, in the mirror, to myself.

In a nutshell, I live my life under the umbrella of a very real inferiority complex. It doesn’t hold me back from much, but this whole knowledge-sharing-wondering-if-people-are-listening-and-liking-it thing definitely triggers it big time every now and again.

It’s like imposter syndrome on steroids. This education/inspiration side of the industry has more and more loud and confident voices as well as some pretty big names and personalities leading the charge. I compare myself constantly, always have done, and it sucks. I can’t keep up, and trying is exhausting for me.

So as wedding season calms down and workshop season ramps up I’m going to pause my writing. Maybe temporarily. Maybe permanently.

I’ve really loved writing these weekly musings for the majority of this spring and summer, and if I do feel compelled to write again I’ll be back. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading them. Thanks to the handful of you who’ve replied now and again.

I have one wedding left to shoot before Christmas and 6 left to edit. My plan is to work my absolute butt off until the end of November and then have as much time off between then and when my 2023 season kicks off in April. Might even enter some awards over the winter just for fun. Who knows.

Thanks for reading. Take it easy.

Brb.
